  • Spore Stain Results: Understanding Negative Findings in Bacteria
    A negative result for a spore stain indicates that the organism does not produce endospores.

    Endospores are dormant, highly resistant structures that some bacteria form in response to adverse environmental conditions. Spore staining techniques are designed to differentiate between the spore and the vegetative cell of the bacterium.
