  • Discovering DNA's Structure: The Contributions of Watson, Crick, Franklin & More
The structure of DNA was determined by James Watson and Francis Crick in 1953.

While they are the most well-known names, it's important to acknowledge that their work built upon the contributions of many other scientists, including:

    * Rosalind Franklin: Her X-ray diffraction images of DNA were crucial in revealing its double helix structure.

    * Maurice Wilkins: He worked with Rosalind Franklin and also contributed to the understanding of DNA's structure.

    * Erwin Chargaff: His research showed that the amounts of adenine (A) and thymine (T) are equal in DNA, as are the amounts of cytosine (C) and guanine (G), providing important clues for the model.

So, while Watson and Crick are credited with the discovery, the structure of DNA was a culmination of years of research and contributions from various scientists.
