  • Animal Cells: Understanding the Role of the Nucleus
There is no animal cell that has no nucleus.

All animal cells, and indeed all eukaryotic cells (cells with a membrane-bound nucleus), must have a nucleus. The nucleus contains the cell's genetic material (DNA) and controls the cell's activities.

Prokaryotic cells, like bacteria and archaea, do not have a nucleus. Their DNA is located in a region called the nucleoid, but it is not enclosed within a membrane.
