  • Understanding Auxin and Gibberellin: Key Plant Growth Hormones
Two plant hormones that regulate growth and development are:

    1. Auxin: This hormone is responsible for cell elongation and plays a critical role in phototropism (growth towards light) and gravitropism (growth in response to gravity). Auxin also promotes root development, lateral bud inhibition, and fruit ripening.

    2. Gibberellin: This hormone is involved in stem elongation, seed germination, fruit development, and flowering. It can also overcome dormancy in seeds and buds.

These two hormones work together and in some cases antagonistically to regulate a plant's growth and development throughout its life cycle.
