  • Heterotrophs: Understanding Organisms That Consume Others
    An organism that eats other organisms is called a heterotroph.

    Here's why:

    * Hetero means "other"

    * Troph means "nourishment"

    So, heterotrophs get their nourishment by consuming other organisms.

    There are different types of heterotrophs, including:

    * Herbivores: Eat plants

    * Carnivores: Eat other animals

    * Omnivores: Eat both plants and animals

    * Parasites: Live in or on another organism and feed off of it

    * Decomposers: Break down dead organisms and waste

    Let me know if you'd like to know more about any of these!
