  • Asexual Reproduction by Mitosis: Organisms and Examples
    Many organisms are capable of reproduction through asexual mitosis, including:

    * Single-celled organisms: Bacteria, archaea, and protists.

    * Multicellular organisms:

    * Plants: Some plants, like strawberries, can reproduce through stolons (runners) or by developing new plants from their roots.

    * Animals: Some animals, like sea anemones, can reproduce asexually through budding. Hydra, a type of freshwater polyp, can also reproduce asexually through budding.

    * Fungi: Some fungi reproduce asexually through spores or fragmentation.

    Key Point: Asexual reproduction through mitosis produces offspring that are genetically identical to the parent. This is because the parent cell replicates its DNA and then divides into two identical daughter cells.
