    A motile bacteria possesses flagella.

    Flagella are whip-like structures that rotate to propel the bacteria through its environment. They are made of protein and can be arranged in different patterns, like a single flagellum at one end (monotrichous), a tuft of flagella at one end (lophotrichous), flagella all over the surface (peritrichous), or a flagellum at each end (amphitrichous).
