What's the Goal?
The goal of FreeCell is to move all cards into four foundation piles, built up in ascending order by suit, starting with Ace and ending with King.
How to Play:
1. Setup: A standard deck of 52 cards is dealt face-up into eight tableau piles (columns), with the first pile containing one card, the second containing two, and so on.
2. Moving Cards: Cards can be moved in the following ways:
* Building Down by Alternating Colors: Cards of different colors (red and black) can be moved in descending order within a tableau pile.
* Moving to Empty Piles: Any card can be moved to an empty tableau pile.
* Using Free Cells: Four "free cells" are available, and any single card can be moved to a free cell.
* Building Foundations: Cards are built up in ascending order by suit on the foundation piles, starting with the Ace.
3. Winning: The game is won when all cards have been moved to the foundation piles.
Key Strategies:
* Empty Cells: Free cells are extremely valuable! Use them to move cards out of the way or to create opportunities for building down in tableau piles.
* Building Foundations Early: Aim to get Aces to the foundation piles quickly to open up spaces for building further.
* Think Ahead: Don't just move cards randomly. Plan your moves to create opportunities for building sequences and clearing spaces.
Variations:
* Different Starting Layouts: Some variations of FreeCell use different starting card arrangements, making the game more or less challenging.
* Timer: Some variations include a time limit for solving the game.
