  • Cell Membrane: The Phospholipid Structure - Function & Composition
The cell structure made primarily from phospholipids is the cell membrane (also called the plasma membrane).

    Here's why:

    * Phospholipids are amphipathic: This means they have both a hydrophilic (water-loving) head and a hydrophobic (water-fearing) tail.

    * Cell membrane structure: The cell membrane is a phospholipid bilayer. The hydrophilic heads face outwards, interacting with the watery environments inside and outside the cell. The hydrophobic tails face inwards, forming a barrier that prevents the passage of most water-soluble molecules.

While other cell structures may contain some phospholipids, the cell membrane is the primary structure that is made almost entirely from phospholipids.
