  • Respiratory & Circulatory Systems: How Oxygen Reaches Your Cells
The two organ systems that allow oxygen from the air to get to your cells are the respiratory system and the circulatory system.

    Here's how it works:

    * Respiratory System: This system brings oxygen into the body through the lungs. When you breathe in, air travels down your windpipe and into your lungs. Tiny air sacs called alveoli in the lungs allow oxygen to pass into the bloodstream.

    * Circulatory System: The circulatory system, which includes the heart and blood vessels, carries the oxygen-rich blood throughout the body. The heart pumps the blood, and the blood vessels act as highways, delivering the oxygen to every cell in your body.

So, the respiratory system takes in the oxygen, and the circulatory system transports it to where it's needed!
