  • Conifer Reproduction: Male & Female Structures Explained
In conifers, the male and female reproductive structures are found on separate cones on the same tree. This means:

    * Male cones (also called pollen cones) are typically smaller and produce pollen.

    * Female cones (also called seed cones) are larger and produce ovules, which develop into seeds after fertilization.

This arrangement is called monoecious, meaning having both male and female reproductive parts on the same individual plant.
