  • What is Messenger RNA (mRNA)? Understanding Protein Synthesis
The type of RNA that carries the instructions for making a protein is called messenger RNA (mRNA).

    Here's a breakdown:

    * mRNA is transcribed from DNA in the nucleus of a cell. It contains the genetic code for a specific protein.

    * mRNA then travels out of the nucleus to the ribosomes, where protein synthesis takes place.

    * At the ribosome, mRNA is "read" by transfer RNA (tRNA), which brings the appropriate amino acids to build the protein.

So, mRNA acts as a messenger, carrying the instructions from DNA to the ribosomes to build the protein.
