  • Genetic Inheritance: Why Offspring Aren't Exact Copies of Parents
There is no animal that has exactly the same set of genes as its parents. Here's why:

    * Sexual Reproduction: Most animals reproduce sexually, meaning they inherit half of their genetic material from their mother and half from their father. This mixing of genes creates unique combinations in offspring.

    * Mutations: Even if the exact same genes were passed down, there's a small chance of mutations occurring during the copying process. Mutations are changes in DNA that can alter genes.

    However, there are exceptions:

    * Asexual Reproduction: Some animals reproduce asexually, creating offspring that are genetically identical clones of the parent. Examples include some species of sea anemones, starfish, and some lizards. However, even in these cases, mutations can still occur over time.

In summary: While there is no animal with precisely the same genes as its parents due to sexual reproduction and the possibility of mutations, animals that reproduce asexually come closest.
