  • Asexual Reproduction in Organisms: Bacteria, Hydra & Strawberry Plants
Here are three organisms that reproduce asexually, along with a brief description of how they do it:

    * Bacteria: Bacteria reproduce through a process called binary fission. A single bacterium will duplicate its DNA and then split into two identical daughter cells.

    * Hydra: These freshwater invertebrates reproduce through budding. A small outgrowth, or bud, develops on the parent hydra. This bud grows and eventually detaches, becoming an independent hydra.

    * Strawberry Plants: Strawberry plants reproduce through runners. These are long, trailing stems that grow horizontally along the ground. At points along the runner, new roots and leaves develop, forming a new plant that is genetically identical to the parent.
