  • Understanding Plant Vascular Tissue: Xylem & Phloem
The part of a plant that carries food and water to other parts of the plant is the vascular tissue.

There are two types of vascular tissue:

    * Xylem: This tissue carries water and dissolved minerals upwards from the roots to the rest of the plant.

    * Phloem: This tissue carries sugars (food) produced during photosynthesis from the leaves to other parts of the plant, including the roots.

So, together, the xylem and phloem work like a plant's circulatory system, transporting essential nutrients throughout the organism.
