Here's why:
* Flagella are primarily used for movement. Plant cells are anchored in place by their cell walls and don't typically need to move around.
* Plant cells have other mechanisms for movement. Plants can move fluids and substances within their cells using cytoplasmic streaming.
* Flagella are more common in bacteria, protists, and some animal cells. These organisms often need to move to find food, escape predators, or reproduce.
While plant cells don't have flagella, some plant sperm cells do have flagella. This is an exception to the general rule, as these sperm cells need to be able to swim to reach the egg.
