  • Cell Organelles: Structure, Function & Examples
The tiny structures within the cytoplasm of a cell are called organelles.

Organelles are like tiny organs within the cell, each with a specific function. Here are some examples:

    * Mitochondria: The "powerhouse" of the cell, responsible for producing energy (ATP).

    * Ribosomes: Sites of protein synthesis.

    * Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER): A network of membranes involved in protein and lipid synthesis, as well as detoxification.

    * Golgi Apparatus: Processes and packages proteins and lipids for transport.

    * Lysosomes: Contain enzymes for breaking down waste materials.

    * Nucleus: Contains the cell's genetic material (DNA).

There are many other organelles within the cytoplasm, each playing a crucial role in the cell's overall function.
