  • Understanding Competition Between Organisms: Types & Examples
The interaction between organisms when they share the same resources or habitat is called competition.

There are two main types of competition:

    * Intraspecific competition: Competition between individuals of the *same* species.

    * Interspecific competition: Competition between individuals of *different* species.

Competition can be for various resources, such as food, water, space, light, or mates. It can also be for access to the best nesting sites, territories, or even for social dominance within a group.
