  • Cytoplasm: Structure, Components & Functions in Cells
Cellular material outside the nucleus is called cytoplasm.

Here's a breakdown of what the cytoplasm includes:

    * Cytosol: The gel-like substance that fills the cell and surrounds the organelles. It's mostly water, but also contains dissolved nutrients, ions, and proteins.

    * Organelles: These are the functional units of the cell, like the mitochondria (powerhouse), ribosomes (protein synthesis), Golgi apparatus (packaging and processing), endoplasmic reticulum (synthesis and transport), and lysosomes (waste disposal).

    * Cytoskeleton: A network of protein filaments that provides structural support, helps with cell movement, and transports materials within the cell.

Essentially, everything within the cell membrane except the nucleus is considered part of the cytoplasm.
