  • Mitosis: The Basis of Asexual Reproduction Explained
Asexual reproduction is based on a type of cell division known as mitosis.

    Here's why:

    * Mitosis produces two daughter cells that are genetically identical to the parent cell. This means the offspring are clones of the parent, inheriting the same genetic information.

    * Asexual reproduction involves only one parent organism and produces offspring that are genetically identical to the parent.

In contrast, sexual reproduction involves the fusion of gametes (sex cells) through a process called meiosis, which results in genetically diverse offspring.
