  • Mitosis in Humans: Which Cells Undergo Cell Division?
Mitosis occurs in all somatic cells of humans, which are any cells that are not involved in sexual reproduction. This includes:

    * Skin cells: For growth and repair.

    * Blood cells: For replenishing red and white blood cells.

    * Muscle cells: For growth and repair.

    * Bone cells: For growth and repair.

    * Internal organ cells: For growth, repair, and maintaining organ function.

    * Nerve cells: While nerve cells typically don't undergo mitosis after birth, some specialized nerve cells can still divide.

Mitosis does not occur in germ cells, which are the cells involved in sexual reproduction (sperm and egg cells). Germ cells undergo a different type of cell division called meiosis.
