Alleles in Body Cells: Understanding Genetic Inheritance
A body cell (somatic cell) has two alleles for each trait.
This is because humans are diploid organisms, meaning they inherit one set of chromosomes from their mother and one set from their father. Each chromosome carries a copy of a gene, and the two copies of the gene are called alleles.
