  • Pioneering Cell Biology: Robert Hooke & Anton van Leeuwenhoek
Two scientists who famously studied cells using microscopes are:

    * Robert Hooke: He was the first to use the term "cell" in 1665 after observing the box-like compartments in a piece of cork under a microscope.

    * Anton van Leeuwenhoek: Known as the "Father of Microbiology," he was the first to observe and describe single-celled organisms like bacteria and protozoa using his own, highly-magnifying microscopes.

While these are two prominent figures, many other scientists contributed to the study of cells through microscopy throughout history.
