  • DNA vs. RNA: Understanding the Similarities and Differences
    RNA and DNA are both nucleic acids, and they share some key similarities:

    * Building Blocks: Both are made up of nucleotides, which consist of a sugar, a phosphate group, and a nitrogenous base.

    * Genetic Information: Both carry genetic information in the sequence of their nitrogenous bases. This information dictates the production of proteins within a cell.

    * Base Pairing: Both use complementary base pairing, but with slight differences:

    * DNA: Adenine (A) pairs with Thymine (T), and Guanine (G) pairs with Cytosine (C).

    * RNA: Adenine (A) pairs with Uracil (U), and Guanine (G) pairs with Cytosine (C).

    * Importance: Both are essential for life. DNA is the primary storage molecule for genetic information, while RNA plays multiple roles in the expression of that information.
