  • Ribosomes: The Protein Synthesis Powerhouses of the Cell
The cell organelle that puts amino acids together is the ribosome.

    Here's why:

    * Ribosomes are the protein factories of the cell. They read the genetic code from messenger RNA (mRNA) and use that information to link amino acids in a specific order, creating a polypeptide chain.

    * Polypeptide chains fold into functional proteins. These proteins then perform a wide variety of tasks within the cell and throughout the organism.

So, while other organelles play a role in protein synthesis (like the nucleus which contains the DNA code and the endoplasmic reticulum which helps with protein folding and transport), the ribosome is the primary site where amino acids are joined together to build proteins.
