    A melliferous creature or plant produces honey.

    * Melliferous means "producing honey".

    * The word is most commonly used to describe bees (especially honeybees) and plants that are pollinated by bees and produce nectar.

    So, when we talk about melliferous creatures, we're really talking about bees, and the food they produce is honey.
