  • Photosynthesis and Plant Food: How Plants Create Sugar (Glucose)
The food plants make is sugar, specifically glucose.

    Here's how it works:

    * Photosynthesis: Plants use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to create glucose (sugar) through a process called photosynthesis.

    * Energy Storage: This glucose is the plant's primary source of energy. They use it for growth, reproduction, and all other life processes.

    * Other Forms of Food: Plants also store glucose in other forms, like starch and cellulose, which are used for long-term energy storage and structural support.

So, while we eat many different parts of plants (fruits, vegetables, grains), ultimately the food they produce is sugar in one form or another.
