  • Chloroplasts: The Unique Organelle of Plant Cells - Function & Importance
The organelle found in most plant cells but never animal cells is the chloroplast.

    Here's why:

    * Chloroplasts are the sites of photosynthesis, the process by which plants convert sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into energy (in the form of glucose) and oxygen.

    * Animals obtain energy from consuming other organisms, so they don't need to perform photosynthesis.
