    * Protective Layers: Egg cells are surrounded by protective layers (zona pellucida and cumulus oophorus) that prevent multiple sperm from fertilizing the egg and ensure the correct sperm can penetrate.

    * Contains Organelles: Egg cells contain a variety of organelles that are essential for early embryonic development, including mitochondria for energy production and ribosomes for protein synthesis.

    Sperm Cells:

    * Small Size and Streamlined Shape: Sperm cells are incredibly small and streamlined, allowing them to travel efficiently through the female reproductive tract.

    * Flagellum: Sperm cells possess a long, whip-like tail called a flagellum, which propels them forward.

    * Acrosome: The sperm head contains an acrosome, a specialized structure containing enzymes that help the sperm penetrate the protective layers of the egg cell during fertilization.

    * Haploid Nucleus: Similar to the egg, the sperm carries half the number of chromosomes, contributing its genetic material to the offspring.
