  • Prokaryotic DNA Location: Understanding the Nucleoid
In a prokaryotic cell, DNA is located in a region called the nucleoid.

The nucleoid is not a membrane-bound organelle like the nucleus in eukaryotic cells. Instead, it's a dense, irregularly shaped region within the cytoplasm where the cell's single, circular DNA molecule is concentrated.

The DNA is not enclosed by a membrane, but it is associated with proteins that help organize and compact it.
