  • Understanding DNA: The Building Blocks of Life - Nucleotides
    A DNA molecule contains thousands of nucleotides.

    Here's why:

    * DNA Structure: DNA is a double helix, like a twisted ladder. The sides of the ladder are made up of sugar and phosphate molecules.

    * Nucleotides: The rungs of the ladder are made up of nucleotides. Each nucleotide consists of:

    * A sugar molecule (deoxyribose)

    * A phosphate group

    * A nitrogenous base (adenine, guanine, cytosine, or thymine)

    * Sequence: The specific order of these nucleotides along the DNA strand is what makes up the genetic code.

    So, a DNA molecule is basically a long chain of thousands of nucleotides linked together!
