  • The Excretory System: How It Eliminates Metabolic Waste
The excretory system is primarily responsible for getting rid of metabolic waste.

    Here's how it works:

    * Kidneys: Filter waste products from the blood, producing urine.

    * Urinary bladder: Stores urine until it is eliminated.

    * Ureters: Transport urine from the kidneys to the bladder.

    * Urethra: Conducts urine from the bladder to the outside of the body.

While the excretory system is the primary system for eliminating metabolic waste, other systems also play a role:

    * Respiratory system: Exhales carbon dioxide, a waste product of cellular respiration.

    * Skin: Sweating removes excess salt and water.

    * Digestive system: Eliminates undigested food and waste through feces.

So, it's not just one system, but a coordinated effort by several systems to remove metabolic waste from the body.
