  • Carl Linnaeus: The Father of Modern Biological Classification
    The first scientist to formally classify living organisms in a way that is still recognized today was Carl Linnaeus, a Swedish botanist, physician, and zoologist.

    He developed a system of classifying organisms based on their shared characteristics, which is known as Linnaean taxonomy. This system uses a hierarchical classification, with organisms grouped into increasingly specific categories:

    * Kingdom

    * Phylum

    * Class

    * Order

    * Family

    * Genus

    * Species

    Linnaeus's work, published in his book Systema Naturae in 1735, laid the foundation for the modern system of biological classification and is still used as a basis for understanding the relationships between living things.
