Interphase is a very active period in the cell cycle, where the cell grows, duplicates its organelles, and replicates its DNA in preparation for the next division. It is further divided into three phases:
* G1 phase (First Gap): The cell grows and synthesizes proteins and organelles.
* S phase (Synthesis): The cell replicates its DNA.
* G2 phase (Second Gap): The cell continues to grow and prepares for mitosis (or meiosis).
After interphase, the cell enters the M phase, which includes mitosis (nuclear division) and cytokinesis (cytoplasmic division).
