  • Understanding Organs: Structure and Tissue Composition
A structure made up of different kinds of tissues is called an organ.

    Here's why:

    * Tissues: Groups of similar cells working together to perform a specific function. Examples include muscle tissue, nervous tissue, epithelial tissue, and connective tissue.

    * Organs: Structures composed of two or more different tissues that work together to perform a complex function. Examples include the heart (muscle, nervous, connective tissues), stomach (muscle, epithelial, connective tissues), brain (nervous tissue), and lungs (epithelial, connective, muscle tissues).

Think of it this way: tissues are like the building blocks, and organs are the structures built from those blocks.
