    The Golgi apparatus does not produce proteins. Its primary function is to process and package proteins that are synthesized by ribosomes in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). Here's a breakdown:

    * Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER): The ER is a network of membranes where proteins are synthesized and modified.

These vesicles then transport the proteins to their final destinations, such as other organelles, the cell membrane, or outside the cell.

    So, the Golgi apparatus plays a crucial role in the protein trafficking pathway, but it doesn't actually make the proteins itself.
