Mitosis
* Results in: Two daughter cells that are genetically identical to the parent cell.
* Type of cells: Somatic cells (all body cells except sperm and egg cells)
* Examples: Skin cells, muscle cells, blood cells, etc.
Meiosis
* Results in: Four daughter cells that are genetically different from the parent cell and each other.
* Type of cells: Gametes (sperm and egg cells)
* Purpose: To create cells for sexual reproduction, ensuring genetic diversity.
Key Difference: Mitosis creates cells for growth and repair, while meiosis creates cells for sexual reproduction.
