    The two main components of the cytoplasm are:

    1. Cytosol: This is the fluid portion of the cytoplasm, essentially a gel-like substance composed mostly of water, dissolved ions, small molecules, and macromolecules. It's where many metabolic reactions take place.

    2. Organelles: These are the functional units of the cell, each with a specific role. They are suspended within the cytosol and include structures like mitochondria, ribosomes, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, etc.
