  • Prokaryotes vs. Eukaryotes: Understanding Cells Without a Nucleus
An organism without a nuclear membrane is called a prokaryote.

    Here's why:

    * Prokaryotes are single-celled organisms that lack a true nucleus and other membrane-bound organelles. Their genetic material (DNA) is located in a region called the nucleoid, which is not enclosed by a membrane.

    * Eukaryotes, on the other hand, have a well-defined nucleus enclosed by a nuclear membrane, where their DNA is stored.

Examples of prokaryotes include bacteria and archaea.
