  • Understanding the Integumentary System: Organs and Structures
    The integumentary system is made up of just one organ: the skin.

    While the skin is the primary component, it's important to note that it has several accessory structures that are considered part of the system:

    * Hair

    * Nails

    * Glands:

    * Sweat glands (eccrine and apocrine)

    * Sebaceous glands (oil glands)

    These structures are all embedded within the skin and play important roles in its function.
