  • Photosynthetic Plant Cells: Understanding Parenchyma Cells
The type of plant cell that has photosynthetic tissue is called a parenchyma cell.

    Here's why:

    * Parenchyma cells are the most common type of plant cell and are found throughout the plant body.

    * They are responsible for photosynthesis, storage of food and water, and other metabolic functions.

    * Chloroplasts, the organelles responsible for photosynthesis, are abundant in parenchyma cells.

While other plant cell types exist, they don't have the primary function of photosynthesis:

    * Collenchyma cells provide support and flexibility.

    * Sclerenchyma cells provide structural support and rigidity.

    * Xylem cells transport water and minerals.

    * Phloem cells transport sugars and other nutrients.
