In my own words, "biotic" means everything that is alive. It's like saying "living things" but with a more scientific feel.

Think of it like this: the world is made of two big things - living stuff and non-living stuff. Biotic refers to the living stuff - all the plants, animals, fungi, bacteria, and even tiny microorganisms that make up the world's ecosystems.
