  • Somatic Cells: DNA and Mitotic Activity in Body Tissue
The cell that has DNA in a mitotically active tissue is called a somatic cell.

    Here's why:

    * Somatic cells are all the cells in the body that are not involved in sexual reproduction (unlike gametes, which are sperm and egg cells).

    * Mitotic activity refers to the process of cell division where one cell divides into two identical daughter cells. Somatic cells are responsible for growth, repair, and maintenance of the body, and they do this through mitosis.

    * DNA is the genetic material that is replicated and passed on to the daughter cells during mitosis.

Therefore, all somatic cells in mitotically active tissues contain DNA.
