  • Muscle Tissue: Types and Contraction Explained
The type of tissue that can contract is muscle tissue.

There are three types of muscle tissue:

    * Skeletal muscle: Attached to bones and responsible for voluntary movement.

    * Smooth muscle: Found in the walls of internal organs like the stomach and blood vessels, responsible for involuntary movement.

    * Cardiac muscle: Found only in the heart, responsible for pumping blood throughout the body.

All three types of muscle tissue are capable of contracting, which is the shortening and thickening of the muscle fibers, generating force and movement.
