  • Animal Cell Structures: Unique Components Compared to Plant Cells
Here are the structures found in animal cells but not plant cells:

    * Centrioles: These are small, cylindrical structures involved in cell division, specifically in the formation of microtubules that form the spindle fibers.

    * Lysosomes: These are membrane-bound organelles that contain enzymes for breaking down cellular waste products, worn-out cell parts, and engulfed foreign materials.

    * Cilia and Flagella: These are hair-like or whip-like structures that help in movement. Cilia are short and numerous, while flagella are long and few.

    * Gap Junctions: These are channels that connect the cytoplasm of adjacent animal cells, allowing for the exchange of small molecules and ions.

Note: Some specialized plant cells may contain structures similar to cilia and flagella. However, these are not as common as in animal cells.
