  • Robert Hooke: The Pioneer Who First Observed Cells Under a Microscope
The first scientist to observe and study cells under a microscope is Robert Hooke.

In 1665, he used a compound microscope to examine a thin slice of cork. He observed small, box-like compartments that he named "cells" because they reminded him of the cells in a monastery.

While Hooke did not see living cells, his observations laid the groundwork for future cell research.
