  • Phytoplankton: The Primary Source of Earth's Oxygen
The organism that provides most of the oxygen in our atmosphere is phytoplankton.

These tiny, microscopic algae are found in the ocean and freshwater environments. They are responsible for about 50-85% of the oxygen produced on Earth through photosynthesis.

While trees and other land plants also contribute to oxygen production, phytoplankton are the primary source due to their sheer abundance and efficiency in photosynthesis.
