  • Louis Pasteur and the Disproof of Spontaneous Generation: A Scientific Breakthrough
The scientist most associated with disproving the theory of spontaneous generation is Louis Pasteur.

While others, like Francesco Redi, had contributed to disproving the theory, Pasteur's famous swan-neck flask experiment provided strong, conclusive evidence against spontaneous generation. He demonstrated that sterile broth would remain sterile even when exposed to air, as long as the air was filtered to prevent the entry of microorganisms. This proved that living organisms could only arise from other living organisms, not spontaneously from non-living matter.
