Microsoft Excel
* Formula Bar: The easiest way is to look at the formula bar located above the spreadsheet. The active cell's contents will be displayed there.
Google Sheets
* Formula Bar: Just like in Excel, the formula bar at the top of the sheet will show the contents of the active cell.
Other Spreadsheet Programs
Most other spreadsheet programs will have a similar setup. Look for a bar at the top of the screen labeled "Formula Bar" or "Edit Bar."
Additional Tips:
* Edit Mode: If you're in edit mode for the cell (clicked on it and ready to type), the cell's contents will be displayed directly in the cell itself, as well as in the formula bar.
* Cell Formatting: If the cell has special formatting (like a date format or currency), the formula bar will show the raw data, while the cell itself will display the formatted version.
