1. Burning fossil fuels: This is the largest contributor to global warming. When we burn coal, oil, and natural gas for electricity, transportation, and manufacturing, we release carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. These gases trap heat and warm the planet.
2. Deforestation: Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as they grow. When forests are cut down, either for timber or to clear land for agriculture, the stored carbon is released back into the atmosphere. This contributes to the greenhouse effect and exacerbates global warming.
